Advantages of this conversion include

This converison will fit under most 15 inch rims.
The 200B strut is shorter than the original 510/1600 strut, so you can get factory lowering, and it has larger bearings and stub axle.
Can be fitted to the 510,610,810 at least, with no problems generally.

Hey guys,

i have to say nice forum... i hope it sticks around for a long time.

I have a 200B SX, it has the 300ZX IRS Diff, a L20B with 35psi of boost. I need to do a brake upgrade on it. With this convertsion above can I still run the 14" rims that are currently on the car, or do I have to change to 15" rims. If I have to change to 15" rims is there a particular to suit as my understanding is that Dawsun was 4 bolt 14" only. Please correct me if I am wrong!

Once again guys, great forum.

Hi Scott,
Sounds like you have a pretty special 200b there. With the brake conversion above, you would be required to run a 15inch rim at a minimum.

You could look into using a set of R31 skyline struts and brakes to keep your 14inch rims. You would use the complete strut, but simply cut off and weld your 200b spring perch's onto the R31 struts.

Hope that helps

Hi Dunnissm

Yeah cheers mate, I have just finished fuel injecting it as it was twin carbies before. What if I keep my setup and do the brake upgrade, I think I am going to go the way of Hilux Calipers and Verada Discs. Are there 15" steel rims available for a Datsun 4 stud. I am racing this car so I don't want alloy rims.

Cheers,
Scott

Scott,
For steel rims, you can hunt around and find and steal the spare wheel out of R31 skyline silhouettes. They are 15inch in diameter and look similiar to the commodore chaser rims.

Alternatively, hyundai elantra rims which I'm told are 15inch also look the same as the chaser rims, plus they have the same stud pattern as a datsun (4x114.3), they are your best bet if you want to keep a steel rim.

cheers

Sorry to Zombie this thread but...

Would this also work on 240K struts?
Ratsun

Zombie away!

From memory they should work but only if they were originally the 240k struts that came with the twin piston sumitomo (spelling) calipers, as they have the same bolt spacing.

Easiest way, measure the caliper spacing on your 200b struts, compare then to the caliper bracket spacing in the picture.
Uncle
Hmmm my 240K strut has 90mm bolt spacing so it should be the same as 200B struts..
I dont have any 200B struts to compare them with (I've got stock 510 struts) so that will be a tad hard lol. I also got my 240K coilovers bare without any brakes so I cant tell what there where when stock..

Next problem I've found is the DB825 part listed on the supercrapautos web site list it as a 5 stud rotor?

Golf VR6 Mk3 From SW 400 00194 - 97ProtexV.W. GOLF FRONT 94-97DR835$53.95FRONT:Front TYPE:Vented DIAMETER:280 HEIGHT:28.2 THICKNESS MAX:22 THICKNESS MIN.:20 CENTRE DIAM.:65 NO. OF STUDS:5

I am quite keen to do this as I see it as a better option than the 11ty KG Hilux cals.
Ratsun

You can check the spacing against the caliper bracket picture that's attached to the first post, looking at it it says 89.9mm, so you should be sweet.

Redrilling a 5 stud rotor is no drama at all, any brake shop will do it for around $25 a rotor.

But yes, I would go this route if you can, the calipers are very light and relatively cheap these days.

i've got 510 struts and haven't measured the spacing on the caliper mounting bracket....but i'm almost sure its the same as the 200b. Has anyone done this mod on the 510 struts??
