Rear disc brake conversion
Model of Car to Source Parts;
1986 - 1990 Aus spec R31 Skyline / Pintara. NOTE - The brakes are the same between Skyline and Pintara
Parts Required
1. Calipers
2. Rotors (Minimum thickness is 9.4mm) - I recommend buying new.
3. Caliper Mount Bracket
Part codes;
Disc part number : DB616
Pads part number : DB1106
Removing the Parts from Skyline
1. Remove the wheel
2. Remove the caliper (2 bolts plus the brake line attachment).
3. Knock off the Rotor (rubber mallet is best, or normal hammer if you are not using the rotors.
4. Use a pry bar to pop the rear axle out of the diff, this can be a bitch sometimes so perserve.
5. Once the axle is removed, you will be able to get access to the 4 bolts holding the caliper bracket on.
Fitting the rear disc brakes to a 510/610 trailing arm
I have never done this with the trailing arm on the car, it could be done but I'd say it's much easier to remove the trailing arm from the car (we will assume this with doing this conversion).
1. Remove the brake drum starting with the cover.
2. Next you will need to remove the axle from the trailing arm.
This will consist of a big nut on the inside of the trailing arm ("around" 24mm from memory). This is probably the hardest part and you will most likely require a big extension bar to give you the leverage to crack the nut.
Once the nut has been removed, use a brass dolly and a mallet to knock the hub through the trailing arm (Pictured below;

3. Next, remove the drum backing plate (4 x 12mm bolts).

4. Modify the R31 caliper bracket, 2 things to do;
A - Enlarge the hole in the centre of the bracket by approximately 1mm around the inner rim.
B - Weld up the 4 existing holes and redrill to suit the datsun pattern. I used the drum backing plate as a guide to give the proper hole locations to redrill, I had to grind the centre of the drum backing plate out so I could use it.

C - Grind out a section as shown in the picture below, this will allow you to install and remove the bracket without the need to remove the hub everytime.

Note - The sides need a trim with the grinder as well (you'll know what I mean when you are doing it.
5. Bolt up caliper bracket
6. Re-fit hub and nut.

7. Slide on the disc to the hub then fit the caliper.

How to route the hoses and handbrake cables: -<This section written by Pete Lieberg>
Run the hoses forward and cables straight down at the back, and under the half shafts.
The cables then fit in the standard position and mount using all the standard hardware. The R31 handbrake cables have to be modified to suit, using only half of these cables and half of the standard 510 cables.
The only mod you need to do is open the hole in the 'A' arm a bit so that the 510 end of the cable can go through.
Diagram attached that shows the measurements for the modifying of the cable however its easier to just get a cable made up.

Removing the Residual Pressure Valve Pics and some information from Nissanman from here
If you are upgrading from drum rear brakes, and your brake master cylinder is either stock or from a car that had rear drums from factory, you will need to remove the residual pressure valve for the rear brakes.
