Series 4/5 Mazda RX-7 calipers
R30/R31/S12/910 struts (I used R31)
S12/910 hubs (I used early BB, later models have an integrated rotor/hub)
1992-1996 Honda Prelude VTEC rotors (DBA #200, 282mm)
Mounting brackets as per attached CAD/drawing
4 off 9/16" UNF x 1.25" socket head cap screws
4 off M12 x 1.25mm x 35mm bolts (30mm bolts pictured)
Standard rotor mounting bolts
4 off 0.5mm ground shim washers (15mm ID)
7/8" master cylinder
Brake booster of your choice
Modifications required
Open rotor centre hole to fit hub (73mm)
Drill rotor mounting holes (10.5mm 4 places on 95mm PCD)
Drill & tap caliper mounting ears on strut (drill 12.8mm, tap 9/16" UNF)
Some minor cleanup of the strut casting may be required on the caliper ears - bolt the bracket to the calipers and trial fit on the struts to see where.
Random notes
The 1.5mm hole offset on the brackets is to space the calipers out radially.
I had to shim the calipers inboard 0.5mm using ground washers - you could alternatively machine 0.5mm steps in the bracket.
The 4 rotor mounting holes will overlap exactly with 4 existing holes - this is not a problem since the rotor mounting holes are bigger than the existing holes.
I found it hard to locate 9/16" UNF cap screws - source these before you thread the struts; if you can't find any you might find M14 x 1.5mm equivalent cap screws. I also had to order a 7/16 hex drive bit
The Prelude rotor is 1mm thicker than the original RX-7 rotor (22mm) which is convenient if you don't use the anti-squeal shims.
Don't use RDA rotors, the retaining screw holes are on the wrong PCD and collide with the required new holes.
Check the dimensions of your calipers before cutting the brackets - Nissanman's calipers had a slightly different hole spacing to mine.
You will need to use a booster with these brakes - they're too hard to lock without one.
Bias will be about 11% to the rear compared to standard R31 fronts & rears so you can use an adjustable proportioning valve to get the bias back towards the front.
The R31 struts reduced negative camber by about 1 degree and increased track slightly.
I'm using +30 R31 Silhouette 15" wheels which clear all round by about 5mm. 200B SX 14" wheels aren't even close to fitting.
The calipers cost $208 on eBay, the rotors (DBA #200 slotted) $132 each, the brackets $165.
